Greenwood Families,
As we head into another exciting week, we remain grounded in our mission of leading with love—supporting one another, celebrating growth, and creating a school where every child feels seen, valued, and inspired to shine their light.
As we approach the month of May, you may hear our staff use the phrase “all gas, no brakes.” This reflects our shared commitment to maximizing every moment of learning. At Greenwood, we continue to teach, lead, enrich, and develop future-ready leaders every single day without slowing our expectations or momentum. We do not count down to summer, and we do not replace instruction with movies, all day recess, or non-academic activities.
Even as state testing beginning, our focus remains unchanged. We do not shift to test-prep-only instruction or create unnecessary pressure around testing, and we do not host SOL pep rallies. Instead, we continue to provide meaningful instruction, targeted intervention, and enrichment that support the whole child. We truly cherish every instructional minute with your children and remain committed to helping them grow with confidence and purpose.

If your child is a performer and unable to attend, please notify their coach this week so we can plan accordingly.
School Play Reminders
Weekly rehearsals are held every Wednesday at 7:20 AM with directors.
After-school rehearsals at Greenwood: Tuesday, April 28 and Tuesday, May 12 from 2:00–3:30 PM.
Dress rehearsals at Holman Middle School: Wednesday, May 20 (4:00–6:00 PM) and Thursday, May 21 (4:00–5:30 PM).
Performances: Thursday, May 21 at 6:00 PM at Holman Middle School and Friday, May 22 at 9:00 AM at Greenwood.
Please note that both the Step Team and Advanced Dance (The Heat) will perform in the school play on both dates. These students are required to attend all dress rehearsals at Holman Middle School. Permission slips will be coming home this upcoming week.
Lanyard Clarification and Expectation
Starting Monday, April 27, students should have all items removed from their lanyards to ensure a safe and distraction-free learning environment.
Stuffed Animal Reminder
Students should not bring stuffed animals to school, as they can become a distraction during the school day.
School Snacks
Thank you for continuing to monitor what snacks—and how many—your child is purchasing each week. We have seen a significant increase in students buying multiple ice creams along with fruit roll-ups, chips, and other snacks, in some cases all before 11:00 AM. We believe that what students put into their bodies can directly impact their focus, energy levels, behavior, and overall engagement throughout the day. Additionally, students are not permitted to purchase snacks for other students.
